in it for the long haul

Mason is My Home.

(and will be ’til I kick the bucket!)

My name is Shannon Worrell, and I am honored to announce my candidacy for Mason County Judge. For over five generations, my family has called Mason County home. From working the land on our ranch to serving on the school board, church committees, and community organizations, my life has been deeply rooted in the values that define this community: faith, family, hard work, and service.

At the heart of everything I do is my family. I have been blessed to be married to my soulmate, James Worrell, for 30 years this coming summer. Together, our greatest accomplishment is raising our son, Jarrett, who is now a freshman at Mason High School. My family is my foundation, and they remind me daily why protecting Mason County’s future matters so much.

While I honor our past, I know we must prepare for the future. Mason County faces challenges: managing growth, maintaining infrastructure, supporting public safety, and protecting our rural way of life. I also believe it is critical that Mason County has an active voice at the state capitol. As your County Judge, I will work to ensure that our county is represented, protected, and positioned to seize opportunities that benefit our citizens and our local economy.

Mason County deserves leadership grounded in legacy and tradition, but focused on solutions that prepare us for tomorrow. My pledge is simple: I will lead with transparency, integrity, and a heart for service.

Together, we can protect what makes Mason County special while building a bright and sustainable future for generations to come.

I humbly ask for your support and your vote as the next Mason County Judge.

Sincerely, Shannon Worrell

Making a Difference in Mason
...and around the country

Community
Service

Serving Mason County has been one of the greatest privileges of my life. These roles have reinforced my belief that strong schools, fair policies, and youth opportunities are the foundation of a strong county.

As a trustee and later vice president of the Mason ISD School Board, I worked to strengthen our schools and support local families.

My service on the Mason County Appraisal District Board gave me valuable experience in balancing fairness and transparency in tax policy.

Served on the Board of Directors with the Mason County Jr. Livestock Show allowing me to invest directly in our youth by helping to secure grants, improve facilities, and build programs that develop responsibility, leadership, and life skills.  We reinvigorated the show and expo to provide an outstanding opportunity for the youth of Mason County.

I currently serve as Chairman of the Area Youth Activities Committee. Over the last 3 years we have worked to ensure the future of Mason 4-H by funding a $100,000 endowment in partnership with the Texas 4-H Foundation.

Leadership

As a leader, I strive to create an environment where people feel respected, supported, and empowered to contribute their best. I have learned that leadership is about removing obstacles, providing encouragement, and also knowing when to listen so others can be heard. These qualities—paired with my commitment to fairness, clarity, and collaboration—are the foundation of how I will lead Mason County, ensuring that our traditions are honored while preparing our community for the opportunities ahead.

Mason County Farm Bureau is where I have most of my legislative and policy experience. I have traveled to Washington DC and Austin to represent Mason County on private property rights, the Farm Bill, water issues and numerous other topics. During my time as President, I help host numerous Ag Day events and presided over meetings. We also awarded numerous scholarship to Mason County seniors.

Served a nationwide membership to obtain the mission and goals of the organziation. We funded a $200,000 endowment for the National Hereford Queen program, $50,000 for the Bud Snidow Endowment Scholarship and funded numerous other scholarhsips. I also spearheaded “The Gathering”, a now annual event held to develop leadership and build relationships within the Hereford breed.

Business
Management

I have more than 25 years of business management experience in agriculture, finance, and consulting.  This work has sharpened my skills in financial management, business planning, and problem-solving.

Most prominently, I serve as a stockholder and Consultant with Ag 1 Source, one of the nation’s leading agricultural recruiting and consulting firms. In this role, I have built and maintained relationships with agricultural companies across the U.S. to match top talent with opportunity, design strategic growth plans, and provide organizational solutions.

Worrell Enterprises, our fifth-generation ranch, where we focus on herd health, genetics, and national business partnerships.

Beyond the ranch, I have managed multiple local real estate investments and other entrepreneurial business ventures that require strong financial planning, time management, and strategic decision-making.

I’m incredibly grateful to Chel Terrell for serving as my campaign treasurer. Chel is a longtime friend and one of those people everyone needs in their corner — the encourager who always believes in you and reminds you to keep going.

Chel wears many hats. She stays busy as the editor of Gulf Coast Cattlemen Magazine, a realtor, and most importantly a devoted wife and mom. Yet in the middle of her full life, she still stepped up to help keep this campaign organized and on track.

More than anything, I’m thankful for Chel’s friendship. She has always been someone who lifts others up, offers encouragement when it’s needed most, and stands by the people she cares about.

Thank you, Chel, for your time, your hard work, and most of all your friendship. I’m truly grateful.

Leadership Reflection: Lessons from Deborah

In the Bible, Deborah served as a judge during a difficult and uncertain time. She led with wisdom, courage, and faith. People sought her counsel because they trusted her discernment and integrity.

What stands out to me most about Deborah’s leadership is that she did not seek the position for power — she answered the call to serve. She listened. She prayed. She acted when action was needed. And she stood firm when others hesitated.

Strong leadership is not about being the loudest voice in the room. It’s about having the courage to make thoughtful decisions, the humility to seek guidance, and the steadiness to lead in challenging times.

As judges and leaders, our responsibility is to serve with fairness, integrity, and conviction — always remembering that leadership is leadership is ultimately about stewardship.

Voting open today and tomorrow from 7-7 at the Eckert Center.
